During our guided tour of the Skansen Museum you will be given the opportunity to discover a truly unique place, located only a few minutes from the city center. Situated on a hill on the island of Djurgården, this museum is a true gem. Housing over a hundred original buildings, dating back to the 18th and 19th centuries  transported here piece by piece, with a view to recreating the idea of what constitutes the Swedish traditional history. A significant source of knowledge that would have risked being long forgotten if it weren’t for this remarkable open-air museum.

While strolling through the Skansen Museum you’ll be passing through a recreated town centre, which tells the story of what Swedish towns were like in days gone by. There are also peasant and aristocratic houses, schools, churches, farms and craftsmen’s workshops: visit them inside and in full swing. During your stay you’ll also be given the opportunity to meet the ‘inhabitants’ of the houses, dressed in traditional clothes, ready to tell stories and anecdotes. 

And believe it or not, the Skansen Museum has even more to offer. For example, a small Sami village and a Nordic animal zoo: where you will find reindeer, moose, bears and other Nordic animals up close. There is no shortage of refreshments and even play areas addressing the youngest visitors.
